ATLANTA, GA — June 25, 2025 — Atlanta United confirmed today that midfielder Jay Fortune is expected to miss the rest of the 2025 Major League Soccer season due to a mid-foot sprain in his left foot. The injury will require surgical intervention, and the club stated that an updated return-to-play timeline will be provided following the procedure.
Fortune sustained the injury while representing Trinidad and Tobago during their final group stage match in the 2025 Concacaf Gold Cup against Saudi Arabia. The midfielder entered the match as a second-half substitute and was forced off in the 76th minute due to the injury. It marked his second appearance in the tournament.
Atlanta United, currently 13th in the Eastern Conference with a 4-9-5 record (17 points), will be back in action on Wednesday, June 25, facing Columbus Crew at Lower.com Field.
