ATLANTA, GEORGIA—The injury bug continues to hit Atlanta United as defender George Campbell will be out week-to-week after sustaining an adductor injury during the club’s 2-1 loss against Inter Miami CF on Sunday. The absence of Campbell will be felt when United (3-3-2, 11 points) returns to action Saturday, April 30, when it travels to face Montreal at Stade Saputo (4 p.m., Bally Sports Southeast, Sports Radio 92-9 The Game, La Mejor).

Earlier, newly acquired Mexican forward Ronaldo Cisneros scored his first Major League Soccer goal in his team’s defeat on the road against the home team Inter Miami CF. Cisneros scored the goal in the 13th minute on a corner kick by defender Brooks Lennon as he toed in the rebound to put Atlanta ahead 1-0. The Mexican football star has mixed feelings about his first MLS goal since the team loses another game on the road.

“Maybe the first half was a bit more even with both teams having some opportunities to score, but I think we had the better of the chances in the second half,” Cisneros said. “But they were able to score on two plays,” Cisneros added. Overall, United played well despite their loss since they had many chances to score, but they failed to capitalize on it.

“There were moments in the game where I felt that we had the more dominant side,” head coach Gonzalo Pineda said. “We created enough chances, in my opinion. But things like this have happened to us that we just need to be more clinical. And also the goals we are conceding are not up to the standard we want to concede. We just need to do better on both ends,” Pineda added.

Before his first MLS goal, Cisneros played well as a substitute in his team’s loss of 0-1 to the Charlotte FC on April 9. Cisneros played 25 minutes and showed nice bursts of speed, particularly when attempting to catch up to balls hit over Charlotte’s last line of defenders. United acquired Cisneros from Chivas Guadalajara on loan through July 7 with an option to extend through the end of the 2022 season and a purchase option. Cisneros will occupy an international roster spot pending the receipt of his International Transfer Certificate (ITC) and P-1 Visa.
