ATLANTA, GEORGIA—The Atlanta United FC Irish midfielder Jake Mulraney told the media that he is not used to the role of coming off the bench but since it is the role given to him by the coaching staff he is fully embracing it.
Mulraney is one of the goal scorers for the team in its 2-1 victory against the visiting expansion team Charlotte FC on March 13 at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium.
The Irish midfielder said to get the starting spot in the future he vowed to train and play even harder.
Aside from Mulraney star striker Josef Martinez also scored a goal for the team who improved to 2-1 in the young Major League Soccer season.
Earlier, United FC head coach Gonzalo Pineda is very happy with their win, especially on how the crowd helped the team win.
“For me, that’s the connection that I always talk about when the crowd is on the same page with the players and they know what we need,” Pineda said.
“It’s the reaction, the players impacting the game from the bench, I think that was a massive positive. And also the reaction from our players with the heart, with the passion, with the intensity… winning duels, winning tackles and sending messages here and there but continue playing,” Pineda added.
The two clubs meet again on April 10 when Atlanta United travels to Bank of America Stadium.
United FC hopes to further extend their winning streaks at home when they host the CF Montreal at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium on Saturday, March 19.
