ATLANTA, GEORGIA—For helping his team, the Atlanta United beat the visiting Inter Miami CF 2-0 at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium on June 19, the Venezuelan veteran striker Josef Martinez has made it to the Major League Soccer team of the week. This is the second team of the week honor for Martinez this MLS season.

Martinez also landed on the MLS Team of the Week after his multi-assist match back in Week 1 in Atlanta United’s 3-1 over Sporting Kansas City. He was the first member of Atlanta United to receive league honors this season. Earlier, in the fourth minute of that game, Martinez dished out an excellent assist to Luiz Araujo, who scored a one-touch shot on the left side to put Atlanta United ahead 1-0.

In the 61st minute, Araujo returned the favor and dished out a good assist to Martinez, who knocked it home with a high, one-touch shot to put Atlanta ahead 2-0. The win allowed United to get three points. The win came after United’s 3-2 win over the visiting C.F. Pachuca on June 14 at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium for the American Family Insurance Cup.

The team hopes to continue its winning streak when they travel to Canada to take on Toronto FC before heading on to New York for back-to-back matches against the Red Bulls and defending MLS Cup champion New York City FC.
