KENNESAW, Ga. — Continuing to build a championship-caliber roster heading into year two under head coach Ben Cahill, Kennesaw State women’s soccer has announced the addition of three more dynamic players to its 2025 recruiting class — including two standout Division I transfers and one promising freshman from Canada.
Meet the Newest Owls
Rebecca Womer
Forward | 5’6” | San Jose, Calif. | University of Georgia | De Anza Force
A product of the SEC, Womer brings speed and finishing ability after logging over 600 minutes at Georgia. She scored her first collegiate goal against Florida and followed it up with a birthday goal versus Kentucky. Off the field, Womer was named to both the SEC First-Year Academic Honor Roll and the J. Reid Parker Director of Athletics Honor Roll.
At the club and high school level, she was a goal-scoring machine — captain of back-to-back league champions at Leland High School and ranked ninth nationally in goals in ECNL. Womer was a multi-time All-League honoree and once earned San Jose Earthquakes Player of the Week.
Sydni Whitehead
Defender/Midfielder | 5’5” | Alpharetta, Ga. | Bellarmine University | United Futbol Academy
A versatile and durable presence, Whitehead joins the Owls after starting all 38 matches across two seasons at Bellarmine. She earned ASUN All-Freshman Team honors in 2023 and brings valuable conference experience into the KSU back line or midfield.
Locally, Whitehead was a 2023 GHSA State Champion at Denmark High School and earned All-Region and All-County recognition multiple times. Her club career includes time with UFA DA and ECNL.
Julia Balchen
Forward | 5’4” | North Vancouver, Canada | Handsworth Secondary School | Coquitlam Metro-Ford SC
The lone freshman in this group, Balchen is a rising attacker out of British Columbia who led her high school to both soccer and cross-country provincial titles. Her clutch performance — including three overtime goals to clinch a spot in the Provincial tournament — speaks to her tenacity and flair in key moments.
She competed with Coquitlam Metro-Ford SC and gained international experience at the XF Tournament in Seattle and the Surf Cup in San Diego.
Coach Cahill continues to make waves with another impressive class that combines proven collegiate production with promising youth talent. With this trio joining the fold, the Owls are poised to be deeper and more dangerous heading into the 2025 campaign.
