On the soccer pitch, Kingwood Park has frequently featured a unique player who can score anywhere.

Emma Yeager is currently a student at McNeese State. From 2020 to 2023, she scored 117 goals, a school record. Allie Byrd (92 goals from 2016–19), Kobi Nutt (79 goals from 2013–2016), Brooke Harper (96 goals from 2008–2010), and Vanessa Valdez (106 goals from 2011–2014) are further members of K-Park’s family.

Coach Jess White may not have a star quarterbacking the Panthers this year, but he does have 14 seniors who have carried on the winning heritage.

“This is going to be our biggest senior class in history,” White said.

One of Kingwood Park’s three captains, Erin McLain, gives thanks for the bonds the girls have had since they were little.

With 15 goals, senior forward Brynn Baldon leads the Panthers, followed by junior forward Krisslyn Boyles with 10. At least one goal has been scored by thirteen additional players.

Peyton Smithson, the Panthers’ rookie goalkeeper, has made 53 saves and seven shutouts in net.

K-Park (15-2-2) won 5-0 over Dayton to wrap up the regular season and secure its sixth consecutive district championship in 16-5A. The Panthers went 10-0 in district play, outscoring their opponents 37-2 and recording eight shutouts.

For a program that began in 2008, the 300th victory was the most recent. Next week, the team has a non-district match versus Atascocita scheduled to act as a pre-postseason warm-up. On an undisclosed day, K-Park will play Tyler (9-7-2) in a bi-district Region II-5A contest. on March 25, the bi-district round kicks off.
