In order to support children’s access to, participation in, and growth in soccer nationwide, Major League Soccer today announced partnerships with two of the top United States Youth Soccer (USYS) state associations: Cal North Youth Soccer Association and New Jersey Youth Soccer. These partnerships are part of MLS GO, the league’s youth recreational soccer program.

All together, these organizations support more than 100,000 young recreational soccer players as well as hundreds of clubs that have created community-based recreation initiatives. By means of these collaborations, groups from both state associations can apply to become league operators for MLS GO and gain access to MLS GO programming and materials, such as uniforms bearing the MLS brand and advantages from their respective local MLS teams—the San Jose Earthquakes for Cal North and the New Jersey Red Bulls and Philadelphia Union for New Jersey.

“Partnering with Cal North and New Jersey Youth Soccer Associations is a testament to the vision of both organizations and the top-tier resources MLS GO can provide,” said Kyle Albrecht, Vice President of MLS GO.

The MLS GO PLAY FUND is one of the tools available to state associations, MLS GO league organizers, and individual MLS GO players. It is an annual financial commitment made by MLS to assist in defraying seasonal expenses including equipment and facilities.

The PLAY FUND will keep working to guarantee that as many kids as possible may take part in youth recreational soccer programs and further the goal of MLS GO, which is to eliminate financial obstacles to play.
