ATLANTA, GEORGIA—After a long wait, the big two of Paris Saint-Germain Lionel Messi and Kylian Mbappe finally showed their wares in a 3-2 win home win vs. RB Leipzig.
Messi who has been playing lethargic as of late scored two goals to carry his team to victory in a Champions League thriller on Tuesday.
Mbappe for his part scored the other goal in their win.
The win allowed PSG to stay on top of Group A with seven points from three games, one point ahead of Manchester City, who demolished Club Brugge 5-1 away earlier on Tuesday. Leipzig have no points.
In signing his PSG contract, Messi is expected to earn between €30-35 million ($35-41m) net a year.
PSG was able to contact Messi on August 4 after his supposed five-year contract with Barca fell due to economic problems.
Now that Messi is a PSG player, it would increase the likelihood of Mbappe, who is out of contract next summer, signing a new long-term deal with the club.
