There is something different about a team that keeps coming back — and keeps winning.

For Lusitano, the Beer City Cup has become more than a tournament on the calendar. It has become a stage where the club continues to prove it can compete, navigate the pressure of knockout soccer and finish the weekend with a championship.

Lusitano added another title to that résumé at the 2026 Beer City Cup Savannah, winning the Men’s Over 50 championship ahead of finalist SCM035B7.

The Savannah tournament was held Feb. 28 through March 1 at the Jennifer Ross Soccer Complex, bringing adult teams together across multiple divisions.

For Lusitano, the latest trophy also continued a recent run of Beer City Cup success.

Lusitano Keeps Finding the Winning Formula

The 2026 Over 50 championship wasn’t Lusitano’s first Beer City Cup title.

A year earlier, at the 2025 Beer City Cup Asheville, Lusitano won the Men’s Over 55 division.

That run was particularly impressive.

Lusitano went unbeaten through group play, defeating HCC Cincinnati 5-0 and DWYBO 5-0 before advancing to the knockout stage.

The club then defeated Greenville United 55/GVL SC 5-0 in the semifinal.

In the championship match, Lusitano finished the job with a 4-1 victory over HCC Cincinnati.

Four matches.

Four wins.

19 goals scored and just one conceded.

Those numbers provide plenty of context for the club’s latest championship.

Lusitano had already shown that it could handle the pace and pressure of Beer City Cup competition. In 2026, it returned and once again finished at the top — this time in the Over 50 division.

Another Championship in Savannah

The 2026 Beer City Cup Savannah event featured divisions ranging from Men’s Open through multiple Masters age groups, including Over 30, Over 40, Over 50, Over 55 and Over 60.

Lusitano emerged as the Over 50 champion, with SCM035B7 reaching the final.

That accomplishment matters because Beer City Cup isn’t built around a single type of adult soccer team.

The event attracts clubs from different parts of the country and provides competition across multiple age groups and levels.

For Lusitano, that means another opportunity to measure itself against a changing field — and another championship to show for it.

Beer City Cup Has Become a Major Adult Soccer Event

Beer City Cup began in 2010 with the goal of combining competitive adult soccer with a festival-style tournament experience.

The event uses an 8v8 format, with smaller fields and no offside rule. That creates a faster, more open game than many players encounter in traditional 11v11 competition.

Savannah has become one of the tournament’s major destinations.

The 2024 Savannah event featured 110 teams, with players representing dozens of states and multiple countries. By 2026, the tournament continued to feature a broad collection of men’s divisions and Masters competition.

That environment gives teams like Lusitano something more than a championship opportunity.

It creates a place where experienced players can continue competing at a high level while also reconnecting with the wider adult soccer community.

And Lusitano has clearly embraced both sides of the experience.

The Consistency Is the Story

One tournament championship can happen for any number of reasons.

A favorable draw.

A hot goalkeeper.

A team catching fire at the right time.

Lusitano’s recent Beer City Cup history suggests something more consistent.

In 2025, the club dominated the Over 55 division in Asheville, going unbeaten and posting a 19-1 goal difference.

In 2026, Lusitano returned to Beer City Cup competition and won the Over 50 championship in Savannah.

The age division changed.

The tournament location changed.

The opponents changed.

The result stayed familiar.

Lusitano finished as a champion.

That consistency is what makes the club’s Beer City Cup story stand out.

More Than Just a Soccer Tournament

Beer City Cup’s appeal extends beyond the matches.

The event combines adult soccer with a social and festival atmosphere, giving teams an opportunity to compete while spending time with players and clubs from around the country.

For longtime adult players, that combination can be part of the reason to keep coming back.

But Lusitano’s recent performances show that when the games begin, the competitive side is still very much there.

The club’s 2025 run demonstrated its ability to put matches away early and handle knockout pressure. Its 2026 championship adds another example of Lusitano succeeding in a tournament environment built around both competition and camaraderie.

What This Means for Lusitano

The latest Savannah championship gives Lusitano another chapter in what is becoming a notable Beer City Cup résumé.

The club won the Over 55 division in Asheville in 2025.

One year later, it won the Over 50 division in Savannah.

Those titles came in different Masters divisions, but they point to the same thing: Lusitano continues to compete at the top of its age-group field.

As Beer City Cup continues attracting teams to events around the country, Lusitano now has another championship to carry into its next appearance.

And based on the club’s recent history, simply showing up may no longer be the expectation.

The expectation is to compete for another trophy.

ASN Take

Lusitano’s latest Beer City Cup championship is impressive on its own, but the bigger story is the consistency.

The 2025 Over 55 title came with a dominant 19-1 goal difference across four matches. Then came the 2026 Over 50 championship in Savannah.

That’s two championships in two years across different Masters divisions.

For adult soccer clubs, maintaining that level of tournament success is difficult. Rosters change, age groups shift and every tournament brings a different collection of opponents.

Lusitano has continued to find a way through it.

For the Atlanta and Georgia soccer community, stories like this are a reminder that the region’s soccer scene extends well beyond professional and collegiate competition. Adult soccer has its own competitive culture, traditions and championship stories — and Lusitano is adding another one to its résumé.
