ATLANTA — Atlanta United supporters — affectionately known as the 17s — have been nationally recognized for their unmatched passion and energy. Mercedes-Benz Stadium has been voted the Loudest MLS Home Pitch, topping a Newsweek fan poll that ran for nearly a month.
The award, determined entirely by fan votes, saw Atlanta’s home ground outpace 14 other nominated venues, including Portland’s Providence Park, Seattle’s Lumen Field, and LAFC’s BMO Stadium.
Record-Breaking Support Fuels the Vote
The recognition is backed by hard numbers. According to Transfermarkt, Atlanta United leads Major League Soccer in average attendance by over 10,000 fans per game in 2025. That roar was especially thunderous during the season opener on Feb. 22, when 65,520 fans filled the stadium — the third-largest crowd in world football that day.
“I was blown away,” head coach Ronny Deila said of the support during his debut match, a 3-2 win over CF Montréal.
But it wasn’t just the goals that sent the crowd into frenzy. As former star Miguel Almirón was reintroduced to fans before kickoff, the roar inside the Benz was deafening — a clear sign that 17s never forget their heroes.
Sustained Volume, Sustained Success
The energy hasn’t dipped since. Back-to-back home victories over FC Cincinnati and Orlando City SC further highlighted the electric environment. From pre-match tailgates to the final whistle, the 17s have kept the volume cranked all season.
Of course, this isn’t new territory for Atlanta fans. The atmosphere during the club’s 2018 MLS Cup run and last year’s playoff upset of Inter Miami were defining moments in league history for crowd intensity.
