ATLANTA, GEORGIA—One of the teams in the Mexican soccer league is seriously seeking the services of Atlanta United FC’s 22-year-old winger Ezequiel Barco.
According to reports, Club América is planning to negotiate with United for the transfer of Barco to the team in exchange for Nicolas Benedetti, who fell out of grace from the Mexican soccer club.
Club América is reportedly shopping Benedetti to the United since they are unhappy with his recent performances and injuries.
Sources said if ever the negotiation materializes, United is not too keen to let go of Barco since he is a vital part of the system of Gabriel Heinze.
United is fully aware of the skills of Barco and its enormous potential in the market since it is priced at 10 million euros.
If by chance United decides to let go of Barco it asks for a big amount of money since they acquire Barco in 2018 at 12 million euros.
Also, compared to Benedetti who is only valued at 2.5 million euros, Barco has a bright future ahead of him.
Barco made headlines this week after he was called up to the Argentina U-23 national team by manager Fernando Batista for two matches against Denmark on June 8 and Saudi Arabia on June 11.
The two matches in Marbella, Spain is part of the U-23 group’s preparations for the Tokyo Olympics.
Barco is a regular member of the Argentine national team as he made 14 appearances with Argentina’s U-20 National Team and scored twice and added two assists in four games at the 2019 FIFA U-20 World Cup.
Barco also earned his first cap with Argentina’s U-23 in a 1-0 win against Brazil’s U-23s on November 17, 2019.
