Our dynamic midfield duo, Alexey Miranchuk and Bartosz Slisz, have been recognized by the league for their outstanding performances in that thrilling 3-2 victory over Orlando City!
Alexey Miranchuk has been named to the MLS Team of the Matchday 16 Starting XI! He was absolutely instrumental, involved in all three of our goals with a goal, an assist, and a secondary assist! He’s been on fire lately, with five of his six goal contributions this season coming in the last four days! His performance on Wednesday was truly a masterclass!
That first goal from Miranchuk in the 11th minute, latching onto that deflected ball and rifling it into the net, was pure class!
Then, he played a key role in Slisz’s equalizer, laying the ball off perfectly for the Polish midfielder’s stunning strike from outside the box – our first of the season from long range!
And of course, that inch-perfect lofted pass to Saba for the assist on Thiaré’s late winner? Simply breathtaking! That secondary assist gave Miranchuk three goal contributions on the night, the first Atlanta player to do that since Giakoumakis back in March 2024!
Speaking of that equalizer, Bartosz Slisz has earned a spot on the MLS Team of the Matchday Bench for his sensational goal! What a moment that was!
Together, Miranchuk and Slisz controlled the midfield, completing a combined 97 passes. Miranchuk also had 10 progressive passes, and Slisz led the team with four tackles!1
Miranchuk summed up the team’s spirit perfectly after the match: “You can see our character as a team, as a group. We’re all together, we were down, we [didn’t] stop, we go again, we go again. We’ve got the crowd on our side.” He even channeled his inner DJ Khaled, saying “GOD DID” about the result!
The preparation and mentality are clearly there, and with two wins in a row, our Atlanta United heads to New York tonight to take on the Red Bulls with some serious momentum!
