Seven teams from each conference will automatically qualify for the 2026 MLS NEXT Pro Playoffs.

That group will consist of the two Division Champions and the next five teams with the most points in each conference.

The eighth playoff spot will then be determined through the new Play-in Round.

The No. 8 and No. 9 seeds in each conference will meet in a single-elimination match, with the No. 8 seed hosting.

Win, and the No. 9 seed moves into the playoffs as the final No. 8 seed.

Lose, and the season is over.

The Play-in Round is scheduled for October 9-11, meaning teams near the bottom of the playoff picture will have one final opportunity to extend their seasons.

The regular season concludes with MLS NEXT Pro Decision Day on Sunday, September 20.

All 30 teams will be in action.

The 16 Eastern Conference clubs will play simultaneously at 2 p.m. ET, while the 14 Western Conference teams will kick off concurrently at 5 p.m. ET.

Those matches will determine the final conference standings, the automatic playoff qualifiers and the teams headed into the new Play-in Round.

The highest remaining seed in each conference will select and host one of the two lowest remaining seeds.

The other two clubs will meet, with the higher seed hosting.

Conference Finals — October 30-November 1

The higher remaining seed in each conference will host the other remaining club for the conference championship.

MLS NEXT Pro Cup — November 6-8

The league championship will be hosted by the club with the highest regular-season points total among the two finalists.
