Nashville SC has strengthened its midfield for the future by signing Senegalese defensive midfielder Famara Camara from Norwegian club Ranheim IL. The 21-year-old joins the Boys in Gold on a contract running through June 2029, with a club option for June 2030, pending receipt of his International Transfer Certificate (ITC) and P-1 Visa.
Camara will occupy an international roster spot as he begins his MLS career.
Promising Young Midfielder Arrives in Nashville
Nashville SC President of Soccer Operations and General Manager Mike Jacobs expressed confidence that Camara’s all-around game will strengthen an already talented midfield group.
“Famara is a talented midfielder who has the ability to impact games on both sides of the ball,” Jacobs said. “He will join a talented midfield corps here in Nashville and complement that group really well.”
The signing reflects Nashville’s continued investment in young international talent capable of contributing immediately while developing into long-term pieces of the club’s core.
Strong Foundation in Norway and International Experience
Camara began his professional career with Ranheim IL in Norway’s OBOS-Ligaen, making 40 appearances since turning professional in 2025.
During his time in Norway, the defensive midfielder contributed one goal and two assists, earning a reputation for his defensive work rate, physical presence, and composure in possession.
Internationally, Camara has represented Senegal’s Under-20 National Team, helping his country capture the bronze medal at the 2023 African Games. His experience at both the club and youth international levels made him an attractive addition for Nashville’s recruitment staff.
Adding Depth to a Contending Squad
The acquisition provides Nashville SC with another young option in central midfield as the club continues building one of Major League Soccer’s deepest squads.
At just 21 years old, Camara offers both immediate depth and long-term upside. His defensive instincts, ball-winning ability, and international experience could prove valuable as Nashville competes in the second half of the MLS season.
Once his paperwork is completed, Camara will officially join the squad and begin integrating into head coach B.J. Callaghan’s midfield rotation.
