Soccer fans in Atlanta, buckle up! The future of U.S. soccer is kicking off right here in our backyard. From September 15-22, twenty-four of the country’s brightest young talents are gathering in Fayetteville, GA, for the first U-16 Men’s Youth National Team training camp under new head coach Alex Aldaz. With the Arthur M. Blank U.S. Soccer National Training Center under construction, this camp marks the beginning of a new era – and it’s happening just 25 miles from Atlanta’s soccer-crazy heart.
This squad is packed with talent, all born in 2009, and fresh off an impressive tournament win in Croatia, where they defeated powerhouses like Morocco and Japan. Thirteen MLS clubs are represented, including two of our own from Atlanta United FC – rising stars James Donaldson (Woodstock, GA) and Ignacio Suarez-Couri (Johns Creek, GA). These young players are set to bring their A-game to the fields of Fayetteville, showcasing the next generation of American soccer right here in the Peach State.
