What is up, Atlanta and regional soccer family!
While the world’s elite squads are setting up shop at our local training grounds downtown, our very own next generation of the 5-Stripes is locking in for an absolute war right down the road. Tonight at 7:00 PM, Atlanta United 2 is protecting home turf at the Turner Soccer Complex in Athens, welcoming our noisy neighbors from up the I-75 corridor, Chattanooga FC.
Chattanooga is riding high after snagging national Team of the Matchweek honors, but our boys are rested, focused, and aiming to disrupt their rhythm. To give us a clearer picture of how the tactical board will look at kickoff, the club just released the official Matchday 14 Availability Report.
The good news? The squad depth is looking incredibly strong, with only one major name completely sidelined as we head into this physical regional rivalry.
The Injury Report: Shuffling the Midfield Pockets
The primary defensive adjustment for the coaching staff tonight revolves around midfield prospect Adrian Gill, who remains officially OUT as he continues to rehabilitate a knee injury. Gill’s vision and work rate in the center of the pitch will be missed against a high-pressing Chattanooga squad, but it opens the door for our deep residency talent pool to step up under the bright lights in Athens.
Additionally, young defender Jonathan Ransom is noted on the report as a player whose minutes are being heavily monitored, meaning we could see some fresh rotations across the backline as the match wears on into the second half.
On the bright side, standout forward Santiago Pita is completely clear of the injury report and fully integrated into tactical drills alongside league-leading goal-scorer Arif Kovac. If those two build on the lethal connection they showcased last week, Chattanooga’s back four is in for a long evening.
