ATLANTA, GEORGIE—The top-tier Italian soccer league Serie A made headlines on Thursday after it decided to ban the use of green kits for outfield players starting from the 2022-23 campaign for television clarity.
Serie A said to avoid confusion with the green grass teams need to combine other dominant colors with green.
The soccer league said the new move hopes to give television viewers a better view of the games.
Among the teams affected by the new rule are Sassuolo, and Venezia.
Sources said Sassuolo, known as the Neroverdi, has combined both green and black in their home kit while Venezia has a striped orange, green and black jersey.
Moreover, based on the new rule goalkeepers can wear any color to differentiate them from outfield players and referees.
