Soccer fans in Calhoun got a taste of international competition last Wednesday as North Georgia United hosted a professional team from Guatemala in a thrilling matchup at Calhoun High School.
Though North Georgia United typically calls Dalton home for its matches, the Calhoun-based club has been eager to bring high-level soccer to its hometown since launching in 2022. This match was a major step toward that goal, giving local fans an opportunity to experience top-tier competition right in their backyard.
With passionate supporters in the stands and a truly global feel on the pitch, the game showcased the growing soccer culture in North Georgia—and hinted at even bigger things to come for the club and community.
