The “Soccer Capital of the South” is setting a new gold standard for women’s professional sports. On February 25, 2026, the NWSL Atlanta expansion team announced a foundational partnership with Aflac, securing a landmark seven-year front-of-kit sponsorship deal.

The agreement, which begins immediately as the club prepares for its 2028 debut season, is believed to be the most lucrative jersey sponsorship in the history of women’s sports. Valued at a reported $28 million over seven years, the deal places the yet-to-be-named Atlanta franchise at the top tier of the National Women’s Soccer League’s commercial ecosystem before the team has even held its first training session.

Aflac and AMBSE: A Vision for the Next Seven Years

The partnership between AMB Sports and Entertainment (AMBSE)—the organization owned by Arthur Blank that also operates the Falcons and Atlanta United—and the Columbus, Georgia-based insurance giant is more than just a marketing play. It is a long-term commitment to the economic and cultural growth of women’s soccer in the region.

“Identifying the right partners is a key aspect of building a new club,” said AMBSE President Tim Zulawski. “Aflac is a Georgia-based corporation with a storied tradition in the sports industry and a shared focus on giving back to the community.”

Key Components of the Partnership:

  • Jersey Primary Sponsor: The Aflac logo will be the central fixture on the team’s Nike-produced kits through 2032.
  • Presenting Partner: Aflac will serve as the lead partner for all major programming leading up to the 2028 kickoff, including the official unveiling of the team name, crest, and colors.
  • Digital & Social Presence: An integrated brand presence across all of the club’s digital storytelling and social media channels.
  • Matchday Activation: Heavy brand presence at Mercedes-Benz Stadium, where the team will play its home matches.

Beyond the Pitch: The Aflac Cancer and Blood Disorders Center

A core pillar of the seven-year agreement is a deep integration with Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta (CHOA). As part of the sponsorship, a portion of Aflac’s contribution and 10% of net proceeds from the club’s future apparel line will be donated to the Aflac Cancer and Blood Disorders Center.

This philanthropic focus mirrors the successful community strategies used by Atlanta United and the USMNT Futures program, creating a holistic “Georgia-first” identity for the new franchise. “This was connecting all the dots for a great relationship that we’re looking forward to being a part of,” noted Aflac U.S. President Virgil Miller.

What This Means: High Bar for NWSL Expansion

By commanding a premium, long-term deal two years ahead of its debut, NWSL Atlanta is signaling that it intends to lead the league in attendance, fandom, and commercial revenue. The club’s home at Mercedes-Benz Stadium will be modified for NWSL matches, with an initial attendance cap of approximately 28,000.

Impact on the Soccer Pyramid:

  1. Talent Pipeline: The deal will help fund a dedicated youth academy, mirroring the success of the Atlanta United Academy pathway.
  2. Training Excellence: Investment will go toward a state-of-the-art training headquarters, for which AMBSE is currently scouting sites in the metro area.
  3. Market Validation: The $28M valuation proves that the “World Cup fever” currently hitting Atlanta—with eight FIFA World Cup 2026 matches on the horizon—is translating into long-term commercial confidence.

Next Steps: When Will We Get a Name?

While the sponsor is secured, the mystery remains: what will the team be called?

  • Branding Reveal: AMBSE plans to use the next two years to “listen to the marketplace.” Fans can expect the team name and crest to be revealed in early 2027.
  • Kit Launch: The inaugural Aflac-branded kits are expected to debut in 2028 just ahead of the season opener.

What should the new NWSL Atlanta team be named? Are you excited to see “The Duck” on the front of the jerseys, or were you hoping for a different local partner?
