ATL UTD 2 defeated Huntsville City FC 2-1 on July 27 to earn their second road victory of the year. Huntsville had little chances during the game as Atlanta dominated the majority of it. But neither team would score again until the 47th minute, when rookie Rodrigo Neri scored his first ATL UTD 2 goal after receiving a pass from Tyler Wolff in the area and sending a left-footed shot over the goalkeeper of Huntsville and into the roof of the net.
Three minutes later, Neri headed the ball across the goal line to double the lead after meeting a cross that Matt Edwards had given to the back post. He did this by rising over his opponent.
With a 0-2-0 (W-L-D) all-time record versus New England Revolution II, Atlanta United 2 lost 5-1 at Gillette Stadium on August 13, 2023, the last time the two teams faced off. Atlanta’s only goal came from Jackson Conway.
On July 26, Atlanta Untied 2 announced that defender Kaiden Moore had signed. The Academy product will join Atlanta United as a Homegrown player on January 1, 2026, after signing an MLS NEXT Pro contract through 2025. The 17-year-old Moore debuted professionally in April against Philadelphia Union II. In 2022, Moore became a member of Atlanta United’s Academy, and he played for the U-16 Academy team that won the MLS NEXT Cup Championship in 2023. Since last September, he has been called up to two local camps with the U-17 American team on the international scene.
