ATLANTA, GEORGIA–-Georgia State Panthers women’s soccer lost to Sun Belt Conference rival Old Dominion, 1-0, on Sunday in the first of two home games to finish the regular season in 2022. Jaddah Foos, the goalkeeper, had a season-high seven saves in goal during a defensively-heavy game where GSU struggled to create scoring opportunities.
ODU scored a goal in the 15th minute to give the Monarchs an early lead despite the Panthers’ solid defensive effort. ODU kept a 1-0 advantage throughout the rest of the game as GSU failed to score on any of its five shots. The striker Jimena Cabrero and the midfielder Ana Diaz registered one shot on goal for the Panthers on Sunday, giving GSU a total of two shots on target. Bree Barley, Gracen Crosby, and Brooke Hart fired a single shot.
After recording seven stops against Arkansas State on the road last week, Foos’ save total on Sunday is tied for the season-best for the goalkeeper. The junior has 145 career saves after recording 68 saves in 2022. The Panthers record now stands at 7-5-5 overall for the year and 3-4-2 in Sun Belt play after the defeat. This Thursday, October 27, at 7 p.m., GSU will play in-state conference opponent Georgia Southern to wrap out the regular season. ET.
