ATLANTA, Georgia — The United Premier Soccer League (UPSL) Georgia Division has appointed Patrick Roach as the official manager for Division 1 in Georgia. Patrick, already the division’s referee assigner, is now bringing his extensive knowledge of the game over the last 25 years to aid in the development of Division 1 in Georgia.

Patrick, born in Jamaica, began playing soccer at six and proceeded to play throughout high school, college, Adult Division 1, and the Jamaican Premier League.  Patrick advanced to the national level as a referee, officiating and managing the top leagues throughout Jamaica.  He moved to the United States more than 25 years ago to “give back to the sport” as a referee, assessor, educator, and assignor.

They founded and ran the Atlanta Caribbean Soccer League with his colleague Wesley Graham, subsequently bringing on Alwayne Rose and others to assist in building the league. This league grew to become one of Georgia’s best amateur leagues. The Caribbean League united with the UPSL in 2018 thanks to the vision of Patrick’s colleague, Wesley Graham.

The league now includes clubs from all across Georgia and one from Alabama.  Following his selection as Division 1 Manager, Patrick stated, “I will continue to do all it takes to assist in the development of soccer in the United States and around the world.”
