ATLANTA, GEORGIA—French soccer superstar Kylian Mbappe has brushed aside his reported feud with Paris Saint-Germain teammate Neymar.
The feud reportedly started after he called the Brazilians soccer star a “tramp” in the team’s 2-0 win over Montpellier last month.
Mbappe admitted uttering the word but he already talk to Neymar about it and both of them have mutual admiration for each other’s talent.
“Yes, yes, I said it. Now these are things which happen all the time in football. It just needs to be something that doesn’t linger,” he said. “That’s why, right after, given how it blew up, I spoke to him about it,” Mbappe said.
He said exchanging harsh words is normal between them since they are both competitive.
“We’ve exchanged a lot of words like that in the past and we’ll continue to do so, because we want to win, but there shouldn’t be any hard feelings. There is no resentment at all because I respect the player and the man and I admire what he is,” Mbappe added.
PSG suffered a shocking 2-0 defeat at the hands of Stade Rennais on Sunday.
Lionel Messi the expected scorer for PSG did not live up to the billing as he failed to score a goal for his team in their defeat.
Five days after an impressive win over Manchester City in the Champions League, with Messi scoring his first for the club, the Argentine soccer superstar fired blanks on Sunday.
Mbappe and Neymar also failed to score a goal for PSG in their defeat on the road.
In signing his PSG contract, Messi is expected to earn between €30-35 million ($35-41m) net a year.
PSG was able to contact Messi on August 4 after his supposed five-year contract with Barca fell due to economic problems.
Now that Messi is a PSG player, it would increase the likelihood of Mbappe, who is out of contract next summer, signing a new long-term deal with the club.
