ATLANTA, Ga. – Atlanta’s preparations for the FIFA World Cup 2026 just got a massive boost with the announcement of four Atlanta-based corporations as the first local sponsors for the city’s eight matches next year: Cox Enterprises, Georgia-Pacific, Home Depot, and Southern Co.

This marks a historic moment for FIFA, as it’s the first time the organization has permitted host committees to secure local sponsorships. While financial details were not disclosed, this initiative underscores the strong regional commitment to the world’s biggest sporting event.

The sponsorships were unveiled during a comprehensive presentation detailing the city and state’s extensive preparations for the expanded 48-team tournament.

Atlanta’s Mercedes-Benz Stadium is set to host eight highly anticipated matches on the following dates:

  • June 15, 2026
  • June 18, 2026
  • June 21, 2026
  • June 24, 2026
  • June 27, 2026
  • July 1, 2026
  • July 7, 2026
  • July 15, 2026 (including a semifinal match!)

Beyond the stadium, a fan festival is planned for Centennial Park during the tournament, promising a vibrant atmosphere for visitors. The volunteers headquarters will be located at The Center.

In further community engagement efforts, the Atlanta Sports Council (ASC) announced a partnership with Atlanta-based Soccer in the Streets to construct another mini-pitch at the Hamilton E. Holmes MARTA station. The ASC will also collaborate with the Boys & Girls Clubs to develop programming in 15 cities across Georgia, from Blue Ridge to Valdosta, extending the World Cup’s impact across the state.

“Proven time and time again, Atlanta is the premium sports city when hosting these big events,” stated Dan Corso, President of the Atlanta Sports Council, highlighting the city’s strong track record and enthusiasm for hosting major events.
