ATLANTA, GEORGIA—The injury woes continue to hamper the 2022 Major League Soccer season of Atlanta United. On May 21, defender Andrew Gutman suffered a quadriceps tendon injury that will make him miss approximately 8-to-12 weeks of play. This season, Gutman, who is playing very well, got the injury in the team’s 2-2 draw against the home team Nashville SC at GEODIS Park.

United (4-4-4, 16 points) hopes to get back to its winning ways on Saturday, May 28, when it hosts Columbus Crew at Mercedes-Benz Stadium (7:00 p.m., Bally Sports South, Sports Radio 92-9 The Game, La Mejor). Earlier, United’s Argentine midfielder Thiago Almada has made once again to the Major League Soccer team of the selection.

In the last three MLS matches, Almada has scored two goals and two assists. Almada has scored three goals in the team’s last three matches in all competitions. United head coach Gonzalo Pineda is very happy with the strong plays and continued growth of Almada.

“We have a fantastic player,” Pineda said. “You can call me crazy, but I still expect even more from Thiago,” Pineda added.
