Tim Howard, a longtime goalie for the US men’s national team, has become a member of Houston Dynamo FC’s ownership group, the team announced on Tuesday. The team also runs Shell Energy Stadium and Houston Sports Park in addition to owning the Houston Dash of the NWSL.
Ted Segal, the majority owner of the Houston Dynamo, stated in a news release on Tuesday, “We are proud to welcome Tim Howard to our ownership group at the Houston Dash and Houston Dynamo.”
Earlier this year, 45-year-old Howard was admitted into the National Soccer Hall of Fame. He competed in the FIFA World Cup in 2010 and 2014, won the Concacaf Gold Cup in 2007 and 2017, and earned 121 caps while playing for the USMNT from 2002 to 2017.
“As someone who has dedicated my life to the sport of soccer, I am thrilled to join the Houston Dash and Dynamo ownership group,” Howard stated. “This opportunity allows me to further contribute to the growth of the game in the United States and connect with the passionate soccer fans who call Houston home.”
With the Colorado Rapids (2016–19) and MetroStars (1998–2003), Howard participated in Major League Soccer (MLS). In 2001, he was named MLS Goalkeeper of the Year. From 2003 until 2016, he participated in the English Premier League with Everton and Manchester United.
The NBA star James Harden is also a part of the ownership group of Houston Dynamo FC.
