The National Soccer Hall of Fame in Frisco, Texas, inducted legendary goalie Tim Howard on Saturday. Howard appeared in 121 games for the US men’s national team. During his time with the national squad from 2002 until 2017, Howard participated in the World Cups in 2010 and 2014.

“Here’s what I want you to know about me: The bell rang 121 times for me, and 121 times, I answered the bell for the greatest country in the world,” Howard said during his induction speech. “For that I’m most grateful.”

With 16 saves in the U.S. team’s 2014 World Cup play against Belgium, Howard, at 45, owns the record for most saves in a World Cup match.

Howard was the standout goalie for the second consecutive World Cup. Apart from his tenure with the U.S.
On the national team, Howard was a member of the Manchester United (2003–06) and Everton (2006–16) squads in the English Premier League, where he won goalie of the year in 2004. He also played for the New York/New Jersey MetroStars (1998–2003) and Colorado Rapids (2016–2019) in Major League Soccer.
