The second game of Timothy Weah’s two-game punishment for hitting Roderick Miller of Panama in the back of the head during the Copa América will keep him out of the first leg of the Concacaf Nations League quarterfinal in November. Weah served the first game of the punishment on Monday while watching the U.S. lose 1-0 to Uruguay and be eliminated from the Copa.
The remaining suspension will be served at the United States’ next competitive game, which will be played against an opponent in the Concacaf Nations League that has not yet been decided. Soccer Federation stated on Tuesday.
The 24-year-old Weah is qualified to be selected for the friendlies in September and October. On September 7 in Kansas City, Kansas, the United States takes on Canada; three days later, in Cincinnati, they play New Zealand. There is an exhibition match against an opponent and place to be disclosed three days later, and a match versus Panama is scheduled for October 12 in Austin, Texas.
Weah, a Serie A player for Juventus, was sent off during the eighteenth minute of the team’s 2-1 loss against Panama last week. George Weah, the FIFA Player of the Year in 1995 and the president of Liberia until January, is his father.
