The University of North Georgia’s Blanca Cruz has just put her name on the national map. The sophomore forward from Snellville, Georgia, was officially named the D2CIDA Women’s Soccer National Player of the Week for September 22–28, following a standout performance that powered the No. 5-ranked Nighthawks to back-to-back conference victories.
Cruz scored three goals across two matches during UNG’s road trip, proving herself to be a difference-maker in clutch moments.

Her impact started midweek against Flagler, where Cruz struck in the 69th minute to secure a 2-1 win. The game-winner wasn’t just vital for the standings — it showcased her ability to step up under pressure.
She followed that up with a brace against USC Aiken, scoring in the 38th and 75th minutes of a dominant 4-0 victory. In total, Cruz converted three goals on seven shots while averaging just 42.5 minutes per game — efficiency at its finest.
