The Benz was buzzing all day Saturday, and the energy didn’t stop when our first team finished their battle against Nashville SC! Our incredible Atlanta United Unified squad took to the pitch for their 2025 debut, and they kept the good vibes rolling! In a hard-fought contest that had fans on the edge of their seats, our Unified heroes battled to a 0-0 draw against Nashville SC Unified, extending their unbeaten run from last season!
For two thrilling 30-minute halves, the Unified teams went toe-to-toe, with our Atlanta squad making a late surge that showcased their never-say-die attitude. And who was there to cheer them on every step of the way? None other than our own Atlanta United legends! Unified Ambassadors Brad Guzan and Jay Fortune, along with other first-team players, rushed out after their own match to show their support from the sidelines – talk about team spirit!
Our Unified stars got the full Atlanta United matchday experience, from proudly signing the Golden Spike upon arrival to soaking in the love from the best fans in the league. And speaking of the 17s, the atmosphere was electric! Chants echoed through the stadium – both the classics and special ones just for our Unified team! Showing their unwavering support, the fans even unfurled an awesome tifo that read: “Forged by the 5-Stripes”! You absolutely love to see it!
For those new to the magic, Atlanta United Unified brings together Special Olympics athletes and partners, creating a truly inclusive and inspiring team. They train, travel, and compete with the same passion and dedication as our first team, showcasing incredible talent and teamwork.
And the excitement doesn’t stop here! Our Unified squad has three more matches this season, including a history-making international trip to face Toronto FC Unified on July 12th!
