Before halftime, two goals propelled the U.S. Under-20 Men’s Youth National Team to a 4-0win against Cuba on Monday at Estadio Miguel Alemán Valdés.
With the victory, the USA secured a position in the Concacaf U-20 Championship quarterfinals for 2024. It will now compete against Costa Rica on Thursday to secure the top spot in Group A.
After 15 minutes, the USA led 1-0 thanks to a goal from Ethan Kohler, who converted a free kick from Niko Tsakiris. In the 26th minute, Zavier Gozo scored after receiving a pass from Taha Habroune, giving the team a 2-0 lead at the half. In the 58th minute, Habroune scored on his own.
Then, in the first minute of stoppage time in the second half, substitute Marcos Zambrano completed a wonderful assist from Sergio Oregel to bring the score to 4-0. After winning both of its opening two games, the USA now only needs a tie to secure the top spot in Group A when it plays Costa Rica on Thursday, July 25 at 10:06 p.m. ET on FS1, TUDN, and ViX.
