ATLANTA, GEORGIA—The team USA’s women’s soccer team (USWNT) showed the world that they remain a powerhouse in women’s soccer with a 9-0 win against the visiting Paraguay team in Cleveland on Thursday night in a friendly game.
American soccer legend Carli Lloyd scored five goals in a runaway victory for Vlatko Andonovski’s side.
The match marked the start of U.S. legend Lloyd’s farewell tour, with the veteran forward playing four matches with the national team after announcing her retirement in August.
Aside from Lloyd, our very own women soccer star Kelley O’Hara also played well in the game.
The team teams are set to meet again in another friendly match on Tuesday, Sept. 21 in Cincinnati, OH (7:30 p.m. ET on FS1 & TUDN).
O’Hara is coming off a successful Olympics where she featured in five of the six matches en route to her second Olympic medal.
For the Spirit in 2021, O’Hara has featured in eight games, starting six of those and totaling 562 minutes.
O’Hara is also a two-time FIFA Women’s World Cup champion and Olympic gold medalist.
She currently plays as a defender for the Washington Spirit in the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL).
She previously played professionally for FC Gold Pride, Boston Breakers, Sky Blue FC, and Utah Royals FC.
