ATLANTA, GEORGIA—The United States Women’s National Team (USWNT) for soccer has increased its winning streak to 36 games after beating the visiting Portugal soccer squad 1-0 on Thursday in Houston.
Samantha Mewis scored the winning goal for the home team with a header against Ines Pereira who did a good job for Portugal before American scored his 22nd US career goal.
The win is also the 16th straight home victory for the Americans.
The team has not lost a match since losing to France 3-1 on Jan. 19, 2019.
The game against 29th-ranked Portugal is the first of the five international matches of the Americans before the Tokyo Olympics tournament next month. The Americans play Jamaica on Sunday still in Houston.
The Americans are very determined to continue their winning ways against Jamaica and bring their winning momentum in the Olympics this year.
