Atlanta soccer fans, the energy in our city is about to reach an absolute boiling point. We already knew that Mercedes-Benz Stadium was locked in to host some of the most massive, high-stakes matches for the historic, expanded 48-team FIFA 2026 World Cup. But FIFA just dropped a massive announcement that brings the world’s game directly to our own backyard long before the opening whistles blow.
The official Team Base Camp Training Sites have been finalized, and Major League Soccer is front and center. Twelve different MLS clubs are opening up their elite, world-class facilities to serve as the official “home away from home” for qualifying national teams during the grueling group stage.
And you better believe our beloved Five Stripes are right in the thick of it.
The Whiteglove Treatment at the Atlanta United Training Center
Our state-of-the-art training ground in Marietta is officially set to play host to the Uzbekistan national team.
While the Uzbeks will be grinding out their tactical sessions on our pristine pitches, the rest of the league is welcoming an incredible roster of global talent. In total, 14 national teams will set up shop across 12 distinct MLS club facilities. Take a look at where the rest of the world will be living and breathing soccer:

- Sporting Kansas City: Argentina & England (Hosting two global giants across the Compass Minerals National Performance Center and Swope Soccer Village!)

- Charlotte FC: Scotland
- Columbus Crew: Ecuador
- Nashville SC: Japan
- Philadelphia Union: Ivory Coast
- Red Bull New York: Brazil
- Real Salt Lake: Bosnia & Herzegovina
- Seattle Sounders FC: Belgium
- Vancouver Whitecaps FC: Canada
This massive footprint proves exactly what we in the local soccer community have known for years: the infrastructure, passion, and facilities built by MLS are genuinely world-class. For communities all across the continent—especially those not directly hosting games—the presence of these international squads, their traveling supporters, and the global media will create an unbelievable soccer buzz.
