Georgia Southern soccer takes its unbeaten Sun Belt start on the road Thursday, traveling to Atlanta for a matchup with Georgia State.
The Eagles enter the contest at 6-1-2 overall and 1-0 in Sun Belt play, giving them an opportunity to build on an impressive opening stretch when they face the Panthers.
Georgia Southern opened conference play Sept. 13 with a convincing 3-0 victory over Arkansas State, and Thursday’s trip to Georgia State represents the Eagles’ first Sun Belt road match of the season.

Eagles Bring Momentum to Atlanta
Georgia Southern wasted little time making an impact against Arkansas State.
Meredith Pugh scored just 75 seconds into the match, giving the Eagles an immediate advantage.
The fast start continued as Caitlin Conroy and Kaitlin Cook each recorded their first collegiate goals, helping Georgia Southern pull away for the 3-0 victory.
That result extended the Eagles’ strong opening to the season and put them in a favorable position entering Thursday’s road test.
Now, Georgia Southern will have to take that momentum away from home against a Georgia State team looking to respond.

The Panthers enter Thursday at 5-3-1 overall and 0-1 in the Sun Belt.
Georgia State’s conference opener ended in a 1-0 loss at Appalachian State on Sept. 18, a result that snapped a four-match unbeaten streak.
That gives both teams a different kind of motivation heading into Atlanta.
Georgia Southern will be trying to protect its unbeaten conference start, while Georgia State will be looking to get its first Sun Belt result of the season.

Georgia State defeated the Eagles 2-1 on Oct. 2 last season in Statesboro, while Georgia State has posted a 10-5-1 record against Georgia Southern in Atlanta.

The Eagles have already demonstrated that they can put together results consistently, entering the match with just one loss through nine games.
